Why did you chose to study at Harlaxton?
My family had never traveled to Europe, and it was always a dream of mine to go. Harlaxton seemed so unique compared to other study abroad programs and granted me the opportunity to fulfill my dreams. I loved the idea of being able to spend a semester learning and traveling while carrying on the legacy of many other Harlaxton alumni.
Did you have a life-changing experience during your time at Harlaxton?
I have learned many valuable life lessons since my time abroad. I was able to navigate foreign countries on my own and manage a budget to comfortably fund my trips and activities. My travels truly opened my eyes to the world outside of the United States and made me appreciate what different cultures have to offer. My semester at Harlaxton planted a seed for numerous adventures to come later on in life.
Based on your experience, what makes the Harlaxton program unique?
It provides a safe space for a group of students to interact and learn together while encouraging them to step outside of their comfort zones and explore what Europe has to offer. It is a different kind of classroom with many resources for students to learn valuable life lessons they may not learn back at home.
How has the manor become your second home?
The experiences I had within those walls with that specific group of students will always hold a special place in my heart. The faculty made it feel like it was my home, despite the numerous generations to come through the manor.
What advice do you have for any future Harlaxton students?
Enjoy the time you have and appreciate every little moment because it goes so fast. Take advantage of the opportunities you have at hand and say yes to everything. Value the relationships you make with your peers because they are so unique compared to any other.
