Designing your Global Path Badge

Designing your global path is one of the most exciting ways to discover your place in the world!

Designing your Global Path Semester

Spend a semester working with our team to forge your own path. Learn how to apply design thinking principals, identify areas of professional interest, and explore different academic disciplines to craft a path forward that is unique to your talents and interests. You do not need a definitive answer to the question, “What’s next?” Simply bring your curiosity and openness to new experiences – we will explore together how to build a life designed specifically for you and by you from the ground up.

The Designing your Global Path Semester experience includes:

  • Our unique Change Lab program which introduces you to design thinking principles and how they apply to your life
    • Job shadow potential career paths you identify
    • Meet and interview changemakers
  • Participation in Global Gateway – a co-curricular program focused on making the most of your international experience, which includes:
    • Access to the Intercultural Development Inventory – a cutting edge cultural assessment
    • Access to the AFS Global Competence Certificate – a series of online learning modules and discussions specifically designed for students living and learning abroad
    • Group travel on curated British Culture Trips with travel briefings that give you an understanding of historical context and present-day issues
    • Special opportunities for engagement within the local community
  • Courses – take one or two academic or Change Lab courses from our offerings

Gap Year: Designing your Global Path + Exploring your Global Path

Students who want an 8-month Gap Year experience will build on their plans from Designing your Global Path to secure a semester-long internship placement with a local organization. Students will take part in the #BeABoss co-curricular program to learn how to successfully navigate professional expectations within a new cultural environment. In addition, students choose two academic courses of interest from Harlaxton College offerings. Our one-week midterm break will afford students the opportunity to explore beyond the United Kingdom, visiting changemakers, volunteering on special projects, or visiting capital cities to explore how to support positive change around 21st century issues.
